Restarting the Backup Engine:

To restart the Backup engine, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Backup Software.
  2. Double-click the Backup Software's logo in the upper right corner.
  3. In the text input area at the very bottom of the Backup Software desktop, type: restart
  4. Press Enter.

 

Windows - Stopping and Starting the Backup Engine:

  1. Click Start, open command prompt
  2. To stop type
  3. net stop CrashPlanService
  4. To start type
  5. net start CrashPlanService

 

Linux - Stopping and Starting the Backup Engine:

The start / stop script is stored in the crashplan/bin directory

  1. To stop type
    1. /usr/local/crashplan/bin/CrashPlanEngine stop
  2. To start type
    1. /usr/local/crashplan/bin/CrashPlanEngine start

 

Mac - Stopping and Starting the Backup Engine:

  1. Go to Go > Utilities > Terminal
  2. To stop, enter the following command:
    1. sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.crashplan.engine.plist
  3. To start (load):
    1. sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.crashplan.engine.plist
