Precedence Backup PROe - Linux with large file sets Print

  • 1

If you have a Linux machine with limited memory but have a massive file set to backup (which happens with file servers) there is a way to get around this.

You can firstly try by created backup set's to break up the number of files being backup at once each time.

But this isnt always possable since you may have a single folder with huge number of sub folders and need to break this up.

The way around this is

Select the root folder

and use exclutions to limit what you want to backup.

e.g:

Select: /home/

excluions: "/home/[^aAbB].*"

This will backup only any file or folder starting with "a", "A", "b" or "B" in the /home/ folder.

Then do this for each group you need to backup.
