These instructions apply to Microsoft Outlook 2019. If you have another version of Outlook, the instructions will be different, but the same basic process will apply.
Before you start, make sure you know your email address and password for the email account you are setting up.
Adding a new email account
- Go to File > Info>Account Settings >Account Settings>Emails>New
- Select "Email account" then click next
- Select "Email Account" and fill in your information. If your login details are correct, Outlook should automatically set up the account. If not, you will need to set up the account manually with the below steps
Manual process:
- Select the manual setup and Fill out details with your information.
- User Information
- Your Name: The name you'd like to appear as the sender
- E-mail Address: someone@yourdomain.com
- Server Information
- Account Type: IMAP
- Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com
- Login Information
- User Name: someone@yourdomain.com (NB: It is your FULL email address)
- Password: yourpassword
- Click Remember Password.
- Click on "More Settings" button.
- Click on "Outgoing Server" Tab.
- Tick "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
- Click on "Advanced" Tab.
- Server Port Numbers
- Incoming server (IMAP) 993
- Tick "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)"
- Outgoing Server(SMTP): 465
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
- Server Timeouts
- 1 Minute
- Delivery
- Click OK
- Click Next, Click Finish, and then click OK.
To change settings on an account already signed in:
- In widows, go to the control panel (see image below):
- In the view by section, select "large icons"
- Open the Mail (Microsoft Outlook) icon and select "Email Accounts."
- Another box will pop up with all your current email accounts. select the desired email address and click change.
