Updating Emails to use TLS/SSL

Having TLS/SSL provides an added layer of security for your communications. In newer versions of emails TLS/SSL is set up as a default configuration, so in most instances when you are adding an email account to your mail client this step is done for you.

In order for your emails to be using the most up to date secure version of emails they must be using one of the following email clients which supports TLS 1.2;

  • Apple Mail: 10 and newer (Sierra)
  • Outlook for Mac: 2016 and newer
  • Outlook for Windows: 2013 and newer
  • Thunderbird: 31 and newer

Please note that If you are using one of  the below outdated email clients you will not be able to connect TLS/SSL;

  • Apple Mail: 9.3 and older
  • Eudora
  • Microsoft Entourage
  • Outlook for Mac: 2012 and older
  • Outlook for Windows: 2010 and older
  • Thunderbird 27 and older
  • Windows Live Mail

If you are using one of these older mail clients then you will need to upgrade your mail client to ensure that your emails are secure. If this is not an option for you please let us know
