If you are an existing hosting client and want to register a new domain name yourself, you can do so through our Client Area. (If you are not sure how to access our Client Area, click here for a guide.)
Once in our Client Area, follow these steps:
- Go to Domains > Register a new Domain
- Alternatively, if you know you need a new hosting account for this domain, you can order both at the same time via Services > Order New Services
- Search for the domain name you would like to register then click Add to Cart & Checkout
- If the domain you want is not available, or you'd like some help choosing a domain name, feel free to give us a call or email for advice)
- Enter the details of the legal entity that will own the domain name, then click Continue
- Usually, Registrant Name and Eligibility Name will be your business name; and Registrant ID and Eligibility ID will be your ABN or ACN
- If you have a different legal entity or are registering a domain name using a trademark, these values may be slightly different; give us a call and we're happy to advise the right ownership details for your circumstances
- On the Review & Checkout page:
- Choose the registration period you would prefer; the default is 1 year, and discounts apply for longer registrations
- Double-check the spelling of the domain name
- Click Checkout
- Make a payment for the domain name, and it will be immediately registered
Now, choose what you would like to do with this new domain name.
If you would like this domain name to have its own website and its own hosting account, then you should order a new hosting account, and specify this domain name when doing so.
If you already have a hosting account with Precedence and want this domain to point to your existing website, use it for email, or manage its DNS; then add it as a parked domain in cPanel. Click here for our guide on how to add a parked domain.
