How to set up an email account in Windows Mail V6 Print

These instructions apply to Microsoft Windows Mail V6. If you have another version, the instructions will be different, but the same basic process will apply.

Before you start, make sure you know your email address and password for the email account you are setting up. 

 

Open Windows Mail

  1. Go to Tools and select accounts
  2. Add, Email Account, Next.
    1. Display name - what you want to name the account.
    2. Email address - someone@yourdomain.com
  3. Set up email servers
    1. Incoming e-mail Server type: IMAP
    2. Incoming mail (POP or IMAP) server:  mail.yourdomain.com
    3. Outgoing e-mail server(SMTP) name:  mail.yourdomain.com
    4. Tick "Outgoing server requires authentication"
    5. Next
  4. Internet mail logon
    1. Email username: someone@yourdomain.com  (NB: use FULL email address)
    2. Password
    3. Tick "remember password"
    4. Next
  5. Finish
