How to set up an email account in Thunderbird 5 Print

These instructions apply to Mozilla Thunderbird 5. If you have another version of Thunderbird, the instructions will be different, but the same basic process will apply.

Before you start, make sure you know your email address and password for the email account you are setting up.

 

Open Thunderbird

  1. Click the Tools menu and select account settings
  2. Select Add Mail Account from Acount Actions
    1. Your Name: your name
    2. email address: someemail@yourdomain.com
    3. password: your password
  3. Next, manual config
    1. Incoming: IMAP
    2. Server hostname: yourdomain.com
    3. port: 993
    4. SSL: SSL/TLS
    5. Authentication: Normal password
    6. Outgoing: SMTP
    7. Server hostname: yourdomain.com
    8. Port: 465
    9. SSL: SSL
    10. Authentication: Normal password
    11. Username: someemail@yourdomain.com
  4. Create account
  5. OK
